Q:  What equipment is required for dialup to POL ?
A:  In addition to a computer, you need to have either an external or internal modem, and a       telephone line.

Q:  At the moment I do not have a telephone line. Could you please suggest a Telecom       provider to which I should apply for a telephone line, in order to use your Internet       connection ?

A:   Since the majority of our access numbers are in the ETL network, we suggest you  get an       ETL phone line. Also, with an ETL phone line, you can use our FREE access  number       (125) . So, there are no telephone charges while you are connected to our server when       using the ETL access number 125.

Q:   Can I access the Internet from the provinces ?

 

A:  Yes, you can access from the provinces by the putting the 021 prefix before the       access number.

Q:   Do you have a dialup service in the provinces that I can access directly ?
A:   Yes, we have a branch in Luangprabang. If you travel to Luangprabang you can use your       dialup account and our access numbers while you are in Luangprabang.

Q:   What are the minimum and maximum speeds I will get when I connect to POL?
A:  You can get speeds from 31 Kbps to 52 kbps depending on your modem and the       quality of your phone line.

Q:   How can I access my mail box while I am abroad ?
A:   You can access your mail box via our webmail. You can go to the webmail URL       directly: www.webmail.laopdr.com , or go to our website www.pol.laopdr.com, and just       enter your username and password on the interface, and click “submit”  then you will       be in your mail box.

Q:  What is the size of the mail box I will get, and what is the maximum size of the        message can I send ?
A:   The capacity of your mail box is 20 Mb and the maximum message you can send is 2 Mb.

Q:   Do you provide auto forwarding of email messages to my other email address ?
A:   Yes, we do provide auto forwarding and auto respond on request. While you are on       vacation, for example, we can do “auto forwarding” for your incoming email to your other       email address, and also provide “auto respond” to your sender to give notice that you are       on vacation. Please provide us the “auto reply” content and we can set it up for you.

Q:   Do you have virus scan software to scan my outgoing and incoming email messages ?
A:   Yes, we have a real time virus scanner to scan your email messages. But, we do still        recommend you have your own up-to-date anti-virus software on your PC, so that        you will have even stronger virus protection.

Q:   What should I do if I cannot connect to the server at night time ?
A:  We provide 24x7 technical support. If you have a problem, please ring our Hotline       number. (021 213310 from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and 020 2232 999 after 10:00 PM). Our       technical support staff can assist you to solve the problem.
